Buying is normally better than renting. but in Thai if you buy a place for 1million baht that same money you can rent a 5000baht a month room for 200 years or a 10,000baht condo for 100 years and none of us will live that long, so as Thai's say up to u... think about it. And foreigners can't buy land in Thai so better buy a property in your home country and rent it out to support your life renting in Thai!!!

Was out in Rawai for sangkron 2024 i definitely met some un happy old men . My friend and i actually met ine individual from Dublin like us and we bout instantly got a bad vibe from him all he done was ask us personal questions we actually made a decision to leave him where he was. This guy just looked like he had over stayed his welcome Needless to say we met some great guys from all over the world Another time we were availing of the services of a massage girl on and off it was beside a small bar we pulled up one day to tell her we seen her on a youtube video of sangkron and we got the death stare from the old wrinkly expats in the bar we just gave it back untill they stopped but was very uncomfortable

I am English, my wife is Thai married for 37 years and we have lived in Thailand permanently since 2003. This guy is painting all Thais with the same brush. Like any other nationalities there are the good, the bad, the honest and the dishonest. As regards empathy and compassion, women don`t hold the same compassion as men, they are of a whole different mindset and this is worldwide. A woman can sleep with a guy and make passionate love then do the same with another guy a couple of hours later and this too is the same world over. Living in Thailand is the same as living in any other country, one has have their wits about them because there are always those willing to take advantage of gullible idiots.

We have relationships with people not cultures. We all have our cultural background that has shaped and formed us. You are as odd, strange, right and wrong as the other person. It is a miracle that two people work it out and stay together but happily happens more than we think. Other times not so... One thing that probably does not help is analysing your partner solely through the lens of your limited understanding of their culture...

Good interview, great information. There are a lot of scammers out there but not all Thai girls are conniving scammer. Dating a Thai woman is a long term commitment, deep family and community bonding. Get to know her families first, build your relationships with her community(circle of friends). The face value is so important to them, show her families that you can take care of her through financial support. Building her a house is one way to show her families and friends that she has made a right choice of marrying you. Thai parents have the same expectation as the rest of parents around the world, they simply want to ensure that their daughter is taken care of. A house is a security that their daughter will always have a house to come home. Once you can show her families, friends and community that you’re genuinely committed and faithful to only her, she will forever be grateful to you. Going back to the face value, if she leaves you, she will lose face to her families, friends and community. Sounds like you’ve found a genuine woman but she needs you to prove to her families and friends that you can take care of her and provide for her. You can call it, a show off or face value, but the true meaning of this process is to ensure a daughter is well taken care of before the parents leave this earth. Hope this helps.
